In April 2005, ground-breaking began for a children’s home in the desert, south of the city of Juarez, Mexico. Resplandor de Vida is the vision of Joaquin Estupiñan and his wife, Hortencia, to serve the people of the poverty stricken nearby colonia. Harvest Hands Ministries, led by Garry and Terry Mathewson, shares this vision and has worked with Joaquin and Hortencia to plan and build a residential complex that will be a home to 50 Mexican children between the ages of 6 and 12, once completed and staffed.
From ground-breaking through April 2010, 58 American volunteer short-term mission teams and supporters have brought their talents and treasure to the Resplandor de Vida site working along with many Mexican brothers and sisters to make this vision a reality. During the construction,
the people of the local community have been ministered to through various outreach programs.
Now in 2010, the kitchen/dining facility as well as Dormitory #1 are complete. The facility and staff are ready to receive children! During the construction of Dormitory #2, Resplandor de Vida will house up to 25 boys and girls in Dormitory #1. The children will be cared for by residential house parents, fed, clothed, and above all loved and taught about our Savior, Jesus Christ. They will attend school in the colonia and visit their parents/relatives on weekends or when possible.
Supporting the children will require a reliable source of funding to pay for food, clothing, education, staff salaries, utilities and more. This need can be met by contributors donating a weekly, monthly or yearly portion of the cost, allowing us to properly care for each child. You can be a part of their support team! We pray that you will be led to support this ministry. Simply click Donate to learn about the options available. Thank you
